Quang Ngai currently has over 115,000 workers, civil servants, and laborers (CNVCLD), working in agencies, units, and enterprises with grassroots unions under the management of the Provincial Labor Federation; of which workers and laborers working in enterprises under the Dung Quat Economic Zone and Quang Ngai Industrial Parks Trade Union account for over 50% of the province.
In 2024, the Quang Ngai Provincial Federation of Labor was one of 31 units nationwide to be commended and awarded certificates of merit by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor at the Conference summarizing the work of developing union members in 2024 and was the leading unit in the province and city in implementing the target of developing union members.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Pham Thai Duong - Chairman of the Dung Quat Economic Zone and Industrial Zones Trade Union of Quang Ngai province said that in 2024, the Dung Quat Economic Zone and Industrial Zones Trade Union of the newly developed province will have 15,762 union members, reaching 189% of the target; established 5 grassroots unions, reaching 100% of the target. The Trade Union of Dung Quat Economic Zone and Industrial Zones of the province has mobilized the "Union Shelter" Fund to submit to the Provincial Labor Federation over 226 million VND. Surveying, considering and guiding 4 union members with particularly difficult housing circumstances, completing procedures to request the Provincial Labor Federation to support the construction of a "Union Shelter" with a total amount of 200 million VND.
According to Mr. Pham Thai Duong, with the theme of Trade Union activities in 2025: "Focus on developing union members; participating in building a clean and strong Party", Trade Unions at all levels in Dung Quat Economic Zone and the provincial Industrial Parks will continue to promote the development of union members, establish grassroots trade unions; direct grassroots trade unions to regularly monitor and detect positive factors in trade union activities to train, help, and introduce outstanding union members to the Party for admission.
Strengthen emulation movements; continue to implement the Program of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on "Improving the quality of negotiation, signing and effectively implementing collective labor agreements"; organize "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Deng" and give gifts to union members in difficult circumstances...
To unite and gather a large number of workers into the trade union organization, trade unions at all levels in Quang Ngai have approached businesses, met with workers, propagated, mobilized to develop union members through activities of supporting legal advice, visiting, giving gifts, organizing cultural and sports activities... Reviewing and counting businesses that are eligible to establish grassroots trade unions, assigning targets to perform tasks to affiliated units.
Focus on establishing grassroots trade unions in enterprises with 25 or more employees, developing union members in enterprises with a large number of employees in industrial parks and industrial clusters; pay special attention to propagating the development of union members in the informal sector through direct work.
