Closely following businesses to mobilize the establishment of grassroots trade unions
Van Don Special Zone is one of the units with the most newly established grassroots trade unions in Quang Ninh province in the first 6 months of 2026. Through surveys, Van Don has 42 enterprises that meet the conditions for developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions. As of June 18, Van Don special zone had 12 newly established grassroots trade unions in 2026.
Ms. Le Thi Net - Chairwoman of Van Don Special Zone Trade Union - informed that although it is one of the many localities with the largest number of newly established grassroots trade unions in the province, the development of trade union organizations in the area still faces many difficulties because most businesses are small-scale, mainly operating in the fields of services, tourism, and are seasonal.
To establish 12 new grassroots trade unions and trade unions, the Special Zone Trade Union surveyed more than 300 businesses. For eligible businesses, we propagate, urge, and guide them to complete the dossiers for establishing grassroots trade unions.
After establishment, the important issue is to continue to support and guide activities so that the Trade Union organization can truly promote its representative role, care for and protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers" - Ms. Net said.
Not just developing quantity
In 2026, Quang Ninh aims to establish 150 grassroots trade unions, including 122 grassroots trade unions in non-state-owned enterprises. To date, the whole province has newly established 84 grassroots trade unions, reaching 56% of the annual plan. Among them, there are 61 grassroots trade unions in non-state-owned enterprises with 2,953 union members.
According to Mr. To Xuan Thao - Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ), the Provincial LĐLĐ has identified the establishment of grassroots trade unions and the development of union members as a key task, which is why it has developed plans, established steering committees and implemented many solutions to develop trade union organizations. In which, trade unions at all levels continue to review businesses in the area, establish mobilization and propaganda teams to make business owners and workers clearly see the benefits of establishing trade union organizations.
In addition to developing the number of union members, trade union levels in Quang Ninh also focus on innovating the content and methods of operation; improving the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers (ĐV, NLĐ). The focus is on the non-state business sector, the informal sector and areas with a large number of new workers.
Continue to implement the emulation movement "Good Labor, High Productivity, Good Income" in the period 2026 - 2031; mobilize union members and workers to promote initiatives, emulation to build and complete projects and products; promptly commend and honor typical workers and trade union officials.
Quang Ninh Provincial Labor Federation will consolidate the organizational structure of commune, ward, and special zone trade unions; build a team of grassroots trade union officials; strengthen coordination with Party committees and authorities in leading and directing the movement of workers, civil servants, laborers and trade union activities in the area.
The development of union members and the establishment of grassroots trade unions in non-state-owned enterprises not only expands the "common home" for employees, but also contributes to building harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations at enterprises.
