-Sir, from which facilities does Dong Thap have a policy of sending workers over 35 years old to work abroad?
In recent times, there has been a situation where Dong Thap workers from other provinces are returning to their hometowns due to lack of jobs. The majority of them are over 35 years old. As of November 2024, Dong Thap had 10,883 workers reporting job loss to the Employment Service Center (Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of the province), of which 3,251 were over 35 years old.
This is a matter of concern in the context of rapid changes in the labor market and the need for sustainable development of enterprises. This group often has difficulty finding jobs due to many reasons, such as competition from younger workers or changes in recruitment needs.
With the spirit of "leaving no one behind", the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Dong Thap province directed the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to preside over and advise on proposed solutions.
On this basis, Dong Thap builds a series of solutions to adapt to many circumstances, levels, genders... Including the policy of sending people abroad for seasonal work.
-Can you tell us more about Dong Thap's solution chain?
Based on the analysis of specialized sectors, it is determined that there are many reasons why workers over 35 years old lose their jobs, such as professional qualifications, skills, family circumstances, health, etc. From there, Dong Thap builds a series of open support solutions so that workers have many opportunities to choose, such as: providing and guiding capital sources, enhancing information on the labor recruitment market through the forms of Job Fairs, connecting businesses and workers, etc. In particular, focusing on enhancing training, retraining and skill development.
Reality shows that this group of workers is facing many challenges, such as: adapting to technology, competing with younger workers... However, through practical research, it shows that many businesses are focusing on this group of workers to take advantage of their own advantages, such as: experience, determination to stick with the job for the stability of family life, relatives... Therefore, if combined with new knowledge through training, it will quickly help them create higher value.
Besides, Dong Thap also pays attention to innovation and improving the quality of communication to change awareness, making the general community and employers realize the value of workers over 35 years old, the experience and stability they bring as valuable assets in the working environment.
-Sir, why must it be seasonal labor?
From the practice of sending seasonal workers to Korea in the past time in Dong Thap, it shows that most of them do not require high foreign language and technical skills compared to other markets. Working time is 5 - 6 months/term, but the income is quite good.
In 2024, receive and introduce 248 workers over 35 years old to work in Cheorwon and Yeoncheon districts (Korea). After deducting expenses, the average income is 1.8 - 2.2 million won/month, equivalent to 32 - 40 million VND...
Based on that reality, Dong Thap chose the seasonal labor solution for workers over 35 years old and officially started in 2025. Of which, it strives to receive about 1,850 workers. In addition, Dong Thap continues to expand cooperation in many other markets.
Thank you!
