In attendance were Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Tran Van Viet, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee and leaders of the Labor Confederation of Soc Trang province.
Currently, the Confederation of Labor of Soc Trang province manages 15 direct upper-level trade unions at the grassroots level, including 11 Confederations of Labor of districts, towns and cities; 4 industry unions and equivalent and 16 grassroots unions under the Confederation of Labor.
The whole province currently has 65,284 union members/66,489 employees; 1,116 CSCS. From the beginning of the year until now, there have been 2,574 new union members, a decrease of 2,950 union members. Established 17 new trade unions, including 3 grassroots unions in the informal sector.
Particularly in July 2024, the peak month of implementing the work of developing union members and establishing Communist unions , the whole province established 6 Communist unions, developing 950 new union members.
After being admitted, union members must comply well with the Party's guidelines, policies, state laws, and the Vietnam Trade Union Charter; Respond to production labor emulation movements to increase labor productivity.
The newly established Communist Unions have actively implemented trade union activities, well performed the function of representing and protecting the legal and legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Chairman of the Confederation of Labor of Soc Trang province - said that the reason the number of union members decreased in the first months of 2024 was mainly due to difficulties in production and business activities of enterprises, and enterprises did not have orders; The number of businesses has decreased significantly; A part of the workforce mainly works on a seasonal basis without a labor contract... In addition, many businesses are small and micro-scale, so they are not eligible to establish a union.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung praised the results achieved by all levels of Trade Unions in Soc Trang province.
