On October 15, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor coordinated with the Lao Cai Provincial Federation of Labor to organize a conference on "Training to raise awareness of environmental protection and occupational safety and hygiene; monitoring trade union criticism for grassroots trade union officials" for grassroots trade union officials and occupational safety and hygiene in the area.
The conference was attended by Mr. Vu Cao Minh - Permanent Vice President of Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation and more than 120 delegates who are grassroots union officials, occupational safety and hygiene of enterprises and units.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Vu Cao Minh - Permanent Vice President of Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation emphasized: "In the context of increasingly strong industrial - service development, environmental protection and occupational safety and hygiene are extremely important, directly linked to the health and legitimate rights of workers.
Through the training conference, the Provincial Federation of Labor hopes that each union cadre and occupational safety and hygiene worker will become an active propagandist, contributing to spreading awareness and action for a green - clean - safe environment at the workplace".
At the conference, delegates listened to Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Anh - Expert of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment presented the basic contents of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, environmental licenses and environmental impact assessment in production and business activities of enterprises.
This is an important knowledge that helps union officials better understand the responsibility and role of trade union organizations in propaganda and supervision of the implementation of environmental laws at the grassroots level.
In addition, Master Do Viet Duc - Chief Expert of the Labor Relations Department, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has imparted knowledge, skills, and effective working methods of trade union cadres and occupational safety and hygiene workers on occupational safety and hygiene; skills to identify, evaluate and control risks at the workplace to contribute to building a safe and healthy working environment.
Through the training program, delegates were updated with professional knowledge, practical skills and exchanged practical experiences, thereby improving capacity, better promoting the role of trade unions in environmental protection, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene, contributing to building sustainable business development.
