Welfare care in a synchronous, stable, long-term direction
In order to build a policy system, focus resources of the Trade Union organization to take care of welfare in a synchronous, stable and long-term direction; mobilize social resources, contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of union members and workers, build a modern and strong working class; create a close and sustainable connection between union members and workers and the Trade Union organization, attract a large number of workers to join the Vietnam Trade Union, build a strong and comprehensive Vietnam Trade Union... The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has just issued a Resolution on "Focusing resources to take care of welfare for union members and workers in the new situation" (Resolution).
The Resolution sets out the main targets by 2030: 100% of union members are fully informed about the welfare policies and programs of the Trade Union; 100% of union members are visited, encouraged, and given gifts when facing difficult circumstances, and benefit from the welfare policies and programs of the Trade Union; strive to spend at least 60% of total expenditure from the Trade Union's financial resources on welfare activities for union members and workers; strive for over 80% of dialogues to have welfare content better than the provisions of law; at least 50% of collective labor agreements signed or participated in by the Trade Union are classified as grade B or higher.
By 2045, the system of policies and resources of the Trade Union organization to care for welfare will be built and developed comprehensively, covering 100% of units, meeting most of the basic needs of units and workers...
To achieve the above targets, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor continues to proactively advise the Party and the State to develop and perfect policies and laws related to welfare care for union members and employees; allocate sufficient resources to ensure effective implementation of welfare care for union members and employees; develop and implement stable, long-term policies to care for union members and employees' welfare; implement diverse and effective welfare care activities for union members and employees; promote communication work to effectively serve the welfare care work for union members and employees; strengthen inspection and supervision of welfare care activities for union members and employees, etc.
Spending tens of billions of dong to take care of employees
Mr. Le Thanh Xuan - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) Trade Union - said that since the beginning of 2024, the union and the group's leaders have built a continuous plan to organize activities to care for union members and employees.
In particular, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, the union coordinated to organize the program "Tet Tho Tho - 2024" in 6 regions across the country with the participation of 1,700 union members and employees. The program presented 1,700 Tet gift bags and 3,000 gifts worth 2 million VND/gift with a total amount of 7.5 billion VND; visited and supported 2,419 workers with a labor capacity reduction of 31% or more, workers with serious illnesses with an amount of 4.838 billion VND... In addition, the units also supported 23,631 bus tickets for union members and employees to return home for Tet, the bus ticket support level ranges from 200,000 VND to 2 million VND, a total amount of 16.49 billion VND.
Grassroots trade unions have coordinated with specialized agencies to develop a joint plan for 82,060 people to go on sightseeing and vacation in 2024. In 6 months, 28,634 trips were organized for people, including 26,723 domestic trips and 1,911 trips abroad. The total amount of money that units spent on tours and vacations for union members and employees was more than 130.6 billion VND. The units organized for 3,053 union members and employees with poor health to go to nursing homes and receive treatment support with a total amount of more than 16.4 billion VND.
In addition, trade unions at all levels have organized visits to the sick, mourning and happy occasions, and supported 14,618 union members and workers in difficulty with a total amount of more than 21.33 billion VND.
