On the evening of June 21, the 19th National Press Awards Ceremony - 2024, took place in Hanoi.
The number of entries this year reached a record of 1,962 entries, of which 1,905 entries qualified for the preliminary round. This is considered the highest number in the 18-year history of the National Press Awards.
The Final Board selected 128 excellent press works to award, including: 13 A prizes, 27 B prizes, 49 C prizes and 39 Encouragement prizes.
At the award ceremony, Lao Dong Newspaper was honored to win 1 B prize, 1 C prize and 1 Encouragement prize at the 19th National Press Awards - 2024.

Accordingly, the series of 3 articles "Unscrupulous gold bar trading and consequences" by the group of authors Bui Thi Dieu Thom and Trinh Tung Giang won the B prize.
Reporter Bui Thom (representative of the group of authors) said that this is a series of investigative articles conducted by a group of reporters from Lao Dong Newspaper over 3 months in the form of role-playing and penetration into illegal gold bar trading rings in Hanoi and some provinces and cities.
The reporter clarified the tricks of selling gold against regulations to profit businesses; at the same time, analyzed experts' opinions on the consequences of this activity for the economy.
The series of articles has received positive feedback from authorities, especially at a time when gold bar trading is "hot".
Having a work win the B prize at the 2024 National Press Awards, for reporter Bui Thom, this is a great honor, especially on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

Reporter Bui Thom added that in recent times, the journalism profession has witnessed many changes and major changes. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for young journalists. In the context of the development of social networks, mainstream press must do an even better role as social critic to survive and develop.
To adapt to the development of technology and artificial intelligence (AI), not to rely on artificial intelligence products, we have, are and will try to discover and build exclusive content - press products that can only be created by human intelligence. AI can only be a tool to support the journalism profession in the new era, it cannot replace the role of journalists" - the female reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper emphasized.

The book "Removing bottlenecks in bidding, unlocking capital for socio-economic development" by the group of authors Dang Thi Chung, Giang Thi Thuy Linh, Phung Duc Hieu Anh, Tran Cao Nguyen won the C prize.
The article reflects the shortage of drugs and equipment at medical facilities. At the same time, the article pointed out difficulties and inadequacies in bidding in many fields.
From there, the group of authors proposed solutions. This issue later became the focus when National Assembly deputies raised it during the questioning session of the Minister of Health at the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly.

After a series of articles, the issue of amending the Bidding Law has attracted widespread public attention. The National Assembly also discussed and decided to amend bottlenecks in the law, thereby promoting capital sources for socio-economic development.
The series of 5 articles Wild animal Blood Still Flowing by the group of authors Giang Thi Thuy Linh and Le Tuong Van won the Encouragement Prize.
The series of articles reflects the brutal state of wildlife in the Central Highlands, when many animals - including rare ones - were slaughtered, freezed and put on the drinking table. This situation shows the lax management of functional agencies and local governments.
Immediately after the article was published, the Forest Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) stepped in and issued directive documents. The forest rangers and local authorities have actively checked and handled the reported information.
Along with that, the work of protecting forests and wildlife is tightened. Conservation organizations also organize awards, honor forces and individuals participating in forest protection, and deploy many training courses to spread love for nature and awareness of wildlife protection.
