Tay Ninh seeks solutions to develop union members and expand trade union organizations

Thanh Vũ |

On April 21, the Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation organized a workshop to propose solutions for developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in the new situation.

The workshop was chaired by Mr. Tran Le Duy - Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Thanh - Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation. In addition, the workshop also had the participation of representatives of relevant departments and branches and trade union officials at all levels in the area. This is an activity to implement the 2026 work program of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation, aimed at consolidating trade union organizations and expanding the scope of union members and workers.

According to the report presented at the workshop, after the process of arranging administrative units, the workforce of workers, civil servants, and laborers in the province continued to increase rapidly in number. Currently, the whole province has more than 500,000 workers working in 46 industrial parks and 3 economic zones. This is a favorable condition for trade union levels to promote propaganda and mobilization to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions.

To date, the whole province has 2,222 grassroots trade unions with more than 450,000 union members. However, the number of trade union organizations is still not commensurate with the scale of the existing labor force, especially in the non-state sector and small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, the establishment of grassroots trade unions in the freelance labor sector still faces many difficulties, not fully exploiting the potential for union member development.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing solutions to improve the effectiveness of union member development in the current period; at the same time, sharing experiences in mobilizing workers to participate in trade union organizations, establishing grassroots trade unions in non-state-owned enterprises as well as developing trade unions in the informal labor sector.

Speaking at the workshop, leaders of the Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation proposed that trade union levels continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, strengthen coordination with departments, branches, and localities in propaganda and mobilization to establish grassroots trade unions; thereby contributing to caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.
