2026 marks many important milestones when it marks the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1st; the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, and also the time of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress.
In that context, Workers' Month this year is organized as a widespread political and social activity, aimed at raising the role of the working class in the new development stage.
Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Chairwoman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation said: A noteworthy point in this year's Workers' Month plan of the Da Nang City Labor Federation is the clear approach of the motto "taking workers as the center, grassroots trade unions as the foundation, digital transformation as a tool, and effectiveness as a measure".
This is not a slogan, but is concretized by a series of measurable targets and activities. For example, we require each commune and ward trade union to have at least one highlight activity; 70% of grassroots trade unions with over 100 workers must deploy response activities; especially, setting a target of having at least 10% of union members propose initiatives, of which 30% are applied in practice" - Ms. Linh said.
The guiding viewpoint of the head of the Da Nang City Trade Union organization shows a clear shift from simple "care" to "activating" the proactive role of workers. Workers are not only beneficiaries, but also become subjects participating in innovation and creativity in their own working environment.
In particular, programs such as "Thank you workers", "Trade Union meals", or activities to visit and support workers in difficult circumstances are still maintained, but are expanded in a more practical direction by improving shift meals, supporting boarding houses, health care, psychological counseling... This is the foundation for workers to feel secure and stick together for a long time.
From care to creating motivation for innovation
A noteworthy new point of Workers' Month 2026 is that it is closely linked to the Action Month on occupational safety and health, with the theme emphasizing "management innovation" in the digital age.
This reflects a reality that in the context of increasingly modern production, labor risks are also becoming more complex. Therefore, building a "safe culture" cannot just stop at propaganda, but must be linked to technology, data and the self-awareness of workers.
Activities such as thematic health check-ups, career counseling, skills day - sustainable employment, or digital initiative competitions... organized by Da Nang city trade union levels all aim to improve workers' adaptability to market changes.
In particular, this year's Workers' Month, the Da Nang City Labor Federation organizes the "May Dialogue" program and the forum "Union members contribute ideas to build Vietnam Trade Unions in the new era", which will open up space for workers to directly express their thoughts and propose policies.
In addition, cultural and sports activities, workers' fairs, art programs "Da Nang Colors"... also contribute to creating a vibrant atmosphere, connecting the workers' community, helping Workers' Month not just be a campaign, but become a true "festival month".
We determine that the core point of this year's Workers' Month is to focus on the grassroots level, focusing on each worker. All activities must be practical and have a specific impact on the lives, jobs and working environment of workers. At the same time, we also expect to strongly arouse the spirit of innovation and creativity in the city's labor force" - Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh said.
Workers' Month 2026 in Da Nang, if implemented in the right spirit, this will be an important "push" to build a more modern, more proactive and more attached Da Nang worker force, in line with the expectations of a city moving towards rapid and sustainable development in the new era.
