On March 18, on behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong signed and issued a plan to organize the Ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026); commending outstanding grassroots trade union presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation in 2026.
Implementing Guidance No. 45-HD/BTGDVTW dated December 31, 2025 of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission on propaganda and celebration of major holidays and important historical events in 2026; Plan No. 55/KH-TLĐ, on December 24, 2025, organizing the commendation of outstanding and typical grassroots trade union presidents in dialogue and collective bargaining (TLTT), the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour issued a Plan to organize the Ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026); commending outstanding and typical grassroots trade union presidents in dialogue and TLTT in 2026.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour's organization of the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026) aims to affirm the historical significance and sustainable value of International Labor Day; honor the role, position and important contributions of the working class and Vietnamese laborers in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
Recognizing and praising the grassroots trade union presidents for effectively implementing dialogue, TLTT and signing collective labor agreements with many clauses that are more beneficial than legal regulations; enhancing the representative role, protecting the rights and interests of union members and workers, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises.
Through commemorative activities, continue to spread the immortal spirit of International Labor Day, continue to promote the tradition of the international workers' movement and the tradition of the Vietnamese working class in the new development era of the country; promote dialogue, TLTT and signing collective labor agreements, practically celebrating the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress.
The ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026); commending outstanding grassroots trade union presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation work in 2026 will take place in 2 days (April 28-29) at the Hanoi Friendship Labor Culture Palace (No. 91 Tran Hung Dao, Cua Nam ward, Hanoi City). It is expected that about 700 delegates will attend the ceremony.
