Social responsibility helps businesses attract quality human resources

Nam Dương |

At the workshop " Laws, Justice and Development" on March 20 with the theme "Social responsibility of businesses", experts commented that implementing social responsibility well brings many benefits to businesses. At the same time, businesses need to invest and expand production to create jobs for workers affected by the process of streamlining the apparatus.

Fulfill social responsibility well, easily attract talent

Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Anh Son - Head of the Faculty of Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) - said that implementing social responsibility such as environmental protection, caring for workers' lives, and contributing to the community will create positive values in addition to profits. This builds trust and sympathy from the public, customers and partners.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Anh Son, the value of the enterprise is largely due to the labor and intelligence of employees. When the rights of employees are guaranteed, they will certainly contribute better to the business. If the two enterprises have equivalent salaries, employees will tend to choose which enterprise to fulfill good social responsibility, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Anh Son commented.

Agreeing with this view, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang - UEF Law Department - said that implementing social responsibility towards employees not only helps businesses maintain stable human resources but also contributes to the economic growth of businesses as well as increase the competitiveness of businesses in the market.

Ms. Trang emphasized that to attract and retain highly qualified workers, businesses must fulfill their social responsibilities. When the rights of workers are guaranteed, they will be motivated to be creative, contributing to improving management, improving productivity, labor quality, improving products and creating surplus value for businesses.

Enterprises need to invest to absorb labor when streamlining the apparatus

Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh - Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC), - said that the process of streamlining the apparatus will force many cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the State sector to quit their jobs, putting great pressure on social life. Although the State has a financial support policy, employment is still an issue that businesses need to pay attention to through social responsibility.

According to Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, this is the time for businesses, especially private sector businesses, to invest and expand production to absorb the surplus labor force from the State.

Agreeing with this point of view, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Anh Son said that this is a good opportunity for private sector enterprises to choose experienced, high-quality human resources from the State to quit or quit their jobs. For example, businesses with import-export goods can recruit customs staff to work, businesses can recruit tax and social insurance officials to do accounting and human resources related work for their businesses.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Anh Son, in addition to support policies and regimes for civil servants and public employees on leave, the State also needs to have policies to support businesses receiving this severance pay. The State can have a policy to increase support for businesses to borrow capital with preferential interest rates from banks to change technology, expand investment and production or have a policy to reduce taxes, extend taxes for businesses that receive workers who quit when restructuring and streamlining the apparatus, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Anh Son suggested.

According to Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus needs to aim at the goal of people who have to quit their jobs, leave the state sector to live and those who are retained must be treated better to achieve justice, fairness, and sustainable social development.
