Awarding 60 Trade Union Solidarity Houses in 2026
In Workers' Month 2026, the City Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) awarded 16 Trade Union Warm Houses to union members in difficult housing circumstances. This is part of the plan to award a total of 60 Trade Union Warm Houses of the City Labor Federation in 2026.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Trach, a worker at Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, is one of the union members supported with the Trade Union Shelter this time. Ms. Trach said that she and her husband always have to be thrifty to nurture a small family with 2 children. Her husband's salary is 7-8 million VND/month, while Ms. Trach's hard-working garbage sweeping job each day only earns more than 200,000 VND. The total income of the whole family, no matter how frugal, is only enough to cover living expenses and take care of their children's education. The dream of self-saving to repair the house seems too much for them.
The small house in Tho Quang ward where the family is living was bought in 2017, which was already old, now it is even more seriously degraded. Walls are peeling, leaking, and the corrugated iron roof is damaged, making it soaked in the rainy season and hot in the sunny season.
Ms. Trach emotionally said: "Being cared for by the company's Trade Union and the Labor Federation, my husband and I are very happy. With this amount of money, I plan to remove the old roof layer and re-roof with PVC panels to prevent water and sun exposure for the mother and children. Life in the upcoming rainy and storm season will be much safer.
Sharing the same burst of joy is Ms. Vo Thi Chin, a trade union member at Da Nang General Printing Company. Her house in Hai Chau ward has been built for more than 20 years, now it is rotten and seriously degraded. Every time it rains and storms, water floods, she has to evacuate to her sister's house to take shelter.
Holding the "Trade Union Shelter" support sign in her hand, Ms. Chin's eyes welled up with tears: "The house is too dilapidated, for so many years I have not known where to get money to rebuild it. Now that the Labor Federation has supported funding to build a new house, I am very happy and grateful. Now, as long as I am supported, I will try to build as much as possible to have a safe place to crawl in and out.
Series of activities towards grassroots levels
In the Workers' Month 2026, the City Labor Federation has guided trade unions at all levels to focus on key contents such as: Organizing the "May Dialogue" Program and the Forum "Trade Union Members Contributing Opinions to Building Vietnam's Trade Union in the New Era"; the "Thank you to Workers" Program; the "Labor Skills - Sustainable Employment" Day. At the same time, this is also the Peak Month to promote the innovation movement, improve labor productivity; develop union members, establish grassroots trade unions and introduce the development of worker party members. In particular, trade union levels also simultaneously organize activities to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1) to widely promote the working class and trade union organization.
On this occasion, the City Labor Federation will also present 1,000 gifts to workers in difficult circumstances throughout Workers' Month 2026.
