Special shift meal
As one of more than 300 workers participating in the "Trade Union Meal" program co-organized by the Ninh Binh Provincial Labor Federation, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - a worker at Jeil Kovi Vina Co., Ltd. (in Khanh Phu Industrial Park, Dong Hoa Lu ward, Ninh Binh province) - shared, "Trade Union Meals organized right at the company's kitchen are special meals, making workers feel more clearly the concern of the Trade Union organization and employers.
Ms. Dao Thi Hanh - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Jeil Kovi Vina Co., Ltd. - said that the daily lunch meal for workers is worth 22,000 VND/portion, but for Trade Union Meals, the value of each meal is increased to 92,000 VND.
From a meal to long-term policy
Mr. Vu Hong Minh - Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial Labor Federation - said: "Trade Union Meals" is not simply an activity to support more dishes in one day. This is also an opportunity for trade unions, employers and workers to share and listen to issues directly related to the lives of workers at work.
Through meals, trade union officials have the opportunity to be closer and better grasp the thoughts and aspirations of employees. From practical opinions, grassroots trade unions will summarize, propose and negotiate with businesses to gradually improve the quality of lunch meals for employees" - Mr. Minh said.
Also according to Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial Labor Federation Vu Hong Minh, this year, the Provincial Labor Federation will organize the "Trade Union Meal" program at 3 enterprises in industrial parks, where there are grassroots trade unions and enterprises maintaining daily lunch meals. Each selected enterprise has a maximum scale of 2,000 union members and employees and an additional support level for a maximum meal of 50,000 VND/meal.
In addition to organizing meals, the Provincial Labor Federation has prepared 1,200 gifts, each worth 800,000 VND, to give to union members and workers in difficult circumstances. For grassroots trade unions, when conditions are met, it is necessary to agree with employers to organize Trade Union Meals, considering this as a specific and practical activity to care for the material life and health of workers.
Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial Labor Federation Vu Hong Minh said that the most important effect of the program does not lie in the number of meals organized, but in the subsequent changes. Increasing the value of meals may increase part of the business's costs, but in return is the health, spirit and attachment of employees to the business. This is also a factor contributing to reducing personnel fluctuations and building stable labor relations.
