Up to now, almost all registrations and bookings for train and bus tickets or Tet air tickets for passengers and workers to return to their hometowns for Tet with their families, especially passengers and workers returning to their hometowns for Tet in some central provinces, are almost gone. Especially if passengers choose to travel and return to their hometowns on peak days such as the 25th, 26th, 27th of Tet, there are almost no tickets left...
According to observations, some trains, buses or some flights still have Tet tickets, but the ticket prices are too high, making many workers extremely struggling and unable to afford the ticket prices. Many passengers and workers are still "impatient" with the "hope" that trains or flights to the Central region will increase flights at the last minute with cheaper and easier ticket prices.
An acquaintance of mine just received a notice of the company's Tet holiday schedule earlier this week. He went online, then went directly to the train station or at air ticket sales points to register to buy tickets home for the whole family, but at this time there were no seats left, no days left as he wished. And if passengers and workers want to go on peak days as desired, they are forced to buy business class tickets or buy train tickets at very high prices because the railway industry calculates additional surcharges and differences for long-distance train trips and has no other choice.
Currently, on the official Tet ticket sales website of airlines and train stations, when clicking on the screen, Tet train tickets still have seats on peak days. But frankly, looking at the ticket price list that is too high makes many passengers... stunned.
Looking at the plane ticket or Tet train ticket for a person going from Saigon station to Quang Ngai station or flying from Tan Son Nhat airport to Chu Lai airport (old Quang Nam province) with ticket prices and surcharges of more than 4 million VND makes many passengers and workers "startled" because the ticket price is too high. Not only that, some train brands are said to be fast trains, luxury trains with "business class" ticket prices along with surcharges of up to nearly ten million VND, making many passengers... breathless.
Some people have to choose to stay because they cannot afford the too high ticket price along with surcharges if they go on the right day, on the right trip. The money spent to buy tickets at such an expensive price is saved to send back to the countryside to give to parents and grandparents, which is more meaningful, as calculated by an acquaintance of mine.
The demand for travel during Tet increases, especially on peak days, the fact that tickets are no longer available or the ticket price is too high is also something to recognize and consider. Ticket prices are too high while the actual life and income of the majority of workers and many out-of-home passengers are still low, they cannot afford it, they are always struggling and concerned about the journey home for Tet (or wondering about choosing to stay), with their Tet train tickets, which is also understandable.
In my opinion, it is necessary to supplement and strengthen night flights, flying in the early morning, prioritizing directions to return to their hometowns for Tet with higher demand, limiting the opposite directions, directions with fewer passengers to ensure harmony of "supply - demand" benefits, so that workers have more choices from the beginning without having to worry and struggle with too high ticket prices at the last minute or traveling on peak days.
Strictly prohibit acts of "spéculation", "booking tickets" or increasing ticket prices, increasing surcharges too high. This is also a way to make travel on Tet days for millions of passengers and workers less difficult and less arduous, creating opportunities for them to return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet, reunite with their families...
