Trend of vocational training increases sharply in Dak Lak

Faced with the pressure of university tuition fees and the need to find jobs soon, more and more students in Dak Lak are choosing vocational training as a practical direction.

Vocational learning choices increase

Ksơr Khế (resident of Ea Hiao commune, Dak Lak province) shared: "Next year I will go to 12th grade, but I am still very hesitant between taking the university entrance exam or registering for vocational training at colleges in the area. Because going to university takes about 4 years and costs a lot of money. Meanwhile, if you choose a suitable vocational training such as mechanics, electricity..., the training time is less than 2 years. After graduating, you can easily choose a job in your hometown, both having income and not having to go far. I don't put much emphasis on accumulating academic degrees, I just hope to have a stable job to help my family. Therefore, I think vocational training is a suitable choice.

Ksơr Khế's point of view is also a common concern of many high school seniors in the area. Most of them want to have jobs soon, create income to cover living expenses and support their families.

Dak Lak College has just coordinated with the Provincial Employment Service Center to organize the first Job Fair in 2026, attracting 18 businesses inside and outside the province and more than 1,000 students to participate.

Businesses have a need to recruit and enroll nearly 5,000 workers. For the overseas market, there are 6 units recruiting workers to work under contract, study abroad and vocational training in Japan, Korea, Taiwan (China) and some European countries, with a need of more than 1,000 people.

Ms. Tran Thi Minh Ly - Vice Principal of Dak Lak College - said that in the past time, the school has regularly coordinated with local authorities to implement vocational training counseling and support for people in need. Reality shows that the demand for vocational training of high school graduates is at a high level.

Instead of trying to get into university, many students, especially in remote areas, tend to choose vocational training to earn income early. The training time is short, only from 1 to 2.5 years to graduate. At the same time, the school also connects businesses to receive students to work immediately after graduation," Ms. Ly informed.

Appropriate orientation

Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuan - Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Department of Home Affairs - assessed that in the context of the economy shifting towards industrialization and modernization, the demand for skilled workers is increasing. Businesses not only need human resources with knowledge but also require good practical skills, who can work immediately after recruitment. Therefore, vocational training has become a suitable choice for many young people.

According to Mr. Thuan, vocational training has a shorter training time than university, helping to save costs and soon have income - a particularly important factor for many families in remote areas and ethnic minority areas. Instead of spending 4-5 years in university with high costs and not necessarily having suitable jobs, many people choose to learn a trade for 1-2 years, then go to work and accumulate experience.

In recent years, Dak Lak province has focused on investing in vocational education systems, improving training quality, and linking with businesses to ensure output for students. Tuition fee support policies, career counseling, and job connection have helped learners feel more secure when choosing vocational training," Mr. Thuan emphasized.
