Amazon has just announced the expansion of its global logistics network to all businesses, marking a new step to compete directly with UPS and FedEx.
The new service named Amazon Supply Chain Services allows companies of all sizes to access transportation, warehousing, order completion and parcel delivery systems that previously mainly served sellers on the Amazon platform.
According to this business, the solution will support many fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, automobiles and retail.
Expanding the scope of service is considered an effort to take advantage of the logistics infrastructure that has developed for many years to create new sources of growth in addition to traditional e-commerce.
Mr. Peter Larsen, Vice President of Amazon Supply Chain Services, said that the company is bringing proven infrastructure, intelligence and supply chain scale over decades to every business, similar to how Amazon Web Services once popularized cloud computing.
Currently, some large corporations such as Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands' End and American Eagle Outfitters have registered to use this service.
The new move shows that Amazon is gradually expanding its role from an e-commerce platform to a comprehensive logistics service provider, increasing competition in the global logistics industry.
