The Liquid Glass interface has been darkened, while the Finder icon on macOS returns to the traditional color layout after many opposing opinions.
After introducing some new visual elements to the next generation of operating systems at WWDC 2025, Apple has quickly withdrawn some design adjustments.
Some new updates have found that the latest developer beta versions have changed the Liquid Glass operating system interface and the Finder app icon.
Liquid Glass has caused controversy from the start. The idea of placing transparent effects layered in the user interface has been supported by some people, but has also been complained about being cumbersome and difficult to see, especially when using the Control Center. In the second beta of iOS 26, Apple increased the darkness and blurred background effects when Control Center was turned on.
Another controversial change involves the Finder icon in macOS Tahoe. The previous beta reversed the color of the icon, placing blue on the right and white on the left. This is a reversal of the traditional Mac design of decades. And users are not satisfied with that. In the latest beta, the familiar coloration has been restored.
Apple's quick adjustment shows that the company still closely follows feedback from the developer community and loyal users. While always looking forward to innovation, Apple seems to understand that there are values that have become iconic and cannot be easily replaced.
