Apple has just launched a global repair program for the 2023 Mac mini series using the M2 chip, due to a "very small proportion" of the device having a source problem and unable to start.
Apple did not disclose the specific cause of the problem. The affected devices are Mac mini manufactured from June 16, 2024 to November 23, 2024 - meaning some devices may be on the brink of a standard one-year warranty, depending on the time of purchase.
With the new program, Apple will repair even devices with expired warranties for free, as long as they are still within three years from the date of first sale. Users can check if their device is not supported by entering the serial number on the Apple programming page. Both Apple and authoritative centers will carry out repairs without charging.
Notably, the latest Mac mini models launched last year - using the M4 and M4 Pro chips - are not affected. These versions are half the size of the previous version, equipped with 16GB of RAM, many USB-C ports, headphone jacks, HDMI ports that support up to 8K 60Hz or 4K 240Hz, and standard ethnicity ports.
