Apple has just updated the list of vintage and obsolete products on its official website, affecting the repair capabilities of some old devices.
This change marks two once popular models, the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8, being included in the classic, while the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 2 are being phased out.
According to Apple's policy, a device is considered a classic when it has been on the market for less than 5 to 7 years. The products on this list are no longer guaranteed to have replacement components when repaired.
After 7 years, the device will be classified as expired, meaning that all official hardware support will be completely stopped, whether at the Apple Store or authorized service centers.
iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 2 have officially become outdated devices, meaning that Apple no longer provides genuine component repair services for these two models.
This new move once again highlights Apple's limited support cycle for older devices, recommending that users consider upgrading if they are using the iPhone or iPad models on the list.
