High-speed Wi-Fi support
According to some leaked information, the new Apple TV will use a self-done Wi-Fi and Bluetooth integrated chip that supports the Wi-Fi 6E standard, an improvement compared to the current Wi-Fi 6. The Wi-Fi 6E standard works in the 6GHz frequency band, helping to increase network access speed and reduce latency. Apple can even equip itself with Wi-Fi 7 standard, giving theoretical speeds up to more than 40 Gbps, 4 times higher than Wi-Fi 6E.
New, stronger chip processing
Apple TV currently uses the A15 Bionic chip, launched alongside the iPhone 13 in 2022. The new model will likely be upgraded to the A18 or A19 chip, providing superior performance, which can support the entire Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence platform on tvOS.
Integrating FaceTime cameras and controlling by gestures?
tvOS 17 has added the FaceTime application, allowing video calls via connected iPhone or iPad. But if Apple TV is integrated with a separate camera, users can make direct video calls without an external device. Leaks show that Apple has discussed adding cameras and gesture control features, but it is unclear whether they will be included in the next generation.
Selling price may be cheaper
On the day Apple announced its current Apple TV (October 2022), Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the next generation would be cheaper, with an ideal price of less than $100.
Previously, Apple sold Apple TVs in 2010 and 2012 for $99, then reduced them to $69. Meanwhile, competitors such as Amazon or Roku sell streaming devices for only 19.99 USD.
Currently, the 64GB Apple TV version costs from 129 USD and the 128GB version with a ethnic port is 149 USD.
Launch date
The new Apple TV is expected to launch later this year, possibly in September or October.
The new Apple TV promises to be a comprehensive upgrade, focusing on performance, connectivity and a smarter user experience.
