The Vietnamese scientific community is proud to receive the good news that Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen has been officially elected as an academician of the National Academy of Design.
The Institute of the National Academy of Creative Arts is considered a symbol of scientific advancement, gathering outstanding "brains". Being elected as a member of the Institute requires a long-term process of dedication with outstanding contributions to research, application, and pioneering innovation in science and technology. This is a noble title that all scientists desire. Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen became an academician of the US National Academy of Creative Arts, affirming Vietnam's academic and intellectual position in the international scientific community.
Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen has an outstanding career in the fields of genetics and biotechnology, and is internationally recognized for his research in biotechnology, plant genetics, etc. He holds an important position as Director of the Hoa Thi Biotechnology Center. He is a senior professor in the field of biotechnology, has been a professor of genetics at Texas Institute of Technology and the Texas A&M University System for more than 18 years and an emer emer emer emer emerited professor at the University of Missouri. In 2020, he was elected to the Indian National Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen has participated in many editorials of Scientific journals, published more than 400 articles and 45 book chapters. His Google Scholar profile recorded more than 48,000 citations, with an h- index of 115. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the International Science Journal Plant GENOME.

In the context of biotechnology entering an explosive stage with a strong shift to the fields of gene, cells or precision agriculture, Vietnam has the opportunity to shorten the gap with the world. According to the Professor, this is the time when basic scientific foundations, innovation and international connectivity can create a real change for the country's science.
That vision brought him back to Vietnam and chose to accompany CT Group, through his role as a member of the Scientific Council, a professional consultant for the field of genetic and cell technology at Vietnam Gene and Cell Technology Company (VGCT - a member of CT Group), currently a unit building a biotechnology research ecosystem according to international standards.

According to the Professor, Vietnam possesses a rich source of indigenous genetic resources, a great demand for high-tech agriculture, and the advantage of young human resources. What Vietnam needs is a systematic, long-term research ecosystem capable of international connectivity. He believes that the scientific foundation of the technology ecosystem that CT Group and VGCT are pursuing will make a practical contribution to the country's science.
The professor will accompany CT Group in biomedical research, precision agriculture and applications of genetic and cell technology.
On November 29, Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen will participate in the discussion session " trends and vision of global biotechnology" at the National Scientific Conference "Biotechnology development strategy for the period 2026-2030, vision to 2045" organized by CT Group in coordination with VNU-HCM.
The presence of world-class experts such as Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen at the National Workshop hopes to bring new perspectives, help Vietnam grasp trends, prepare resources and establish a new position in the booming biotechnology era.
