On November 28, the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund donated 50 million VND to support workers in Son Thanh commune (Dak Lak) to help them overcome the consequences of the fierce flood.
This amount was allocated to 50 union members and employees working at the Central Joint Stock Company, each person receiving 1 million VND. Thereby, promptly encouraging and sharing difficulties with affected workers.
Talking to the room attendant of Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Duong Thi Thao Vy, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of the Central Joint Stock Company, said that after the recent historic flood, the company had about 110 workers affected. Up to now, many people have not been able to return to work fully.
According to Ms. Vy, most of the workers working in the company live in Son Thanh commune and neighboring areas, so they have suffered very heavy losses due to the severe flood. Among them, many families have lost their assets, and crops that were in the harvest season have also been washed away.
Not yet shocked after the flood, Ms. Phan Thi Hoa (residing in Son Thanh commune) recounted that at night, the floodwaters poured in too quickly, making her family unable to move their belongings up high.
All electronic devices and household items were submerged in water. When the flood receded, the couple searched in the mud hoping to find something to use, but everything was damaged and could not be used.
"Both my husband and I are workers with an income of about 16 million VND/month. While the family was raising young children, when the flood swept away assets worth hundreds of millions of VND, the family was almost exhausted. It will take another 5 years to rebuild the property as before" - Ms. Hoa shared.
On this occasion, a representative of the Golden Heart Social and Cultural Fund shared that the floodwaters have receded, and many union members are still struggling to bear immeasurable losses.
The amount of support today is the heart and sharing that the Golden Heart Social and Cultural Fund sent to each union member during the most difficult times.
The unit hopes that this support will give people more motivation to soon overcome the difficult period and stabilize their lives soon.
