Presenting the report of the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of Lao Dong Newspaper for the 2023-2025 period, Mr. Pham Dang Huynh - Chairman of the Trade Union of Lao Dong Newspaper for the 2023-2028 term said that the Trade Union of Lao Dong Newspaper currently manages 6 departmental trade unions, as of November 15, 2025, with 196 union members. In 2025, the Trade Union of Lao Dong Newspaper will reorganize and rename the Department Trade Unions. Including 4 departmental unions in Hanoi and 2 departmental unions at the Permanent Agency and Representative Offices in the Central region, Central Highlands, Mekong Delta, and North Central regions.
In the work of representing and caring for union members, workers and civil servants, in the period of 2023-2025, the Union has visited more than 160 cases of union members and workers when they were sick, had an accident, or were on a diet. The Labor Union of Lao Dong Newspaper has coordinated with the Agency Office, regional offices, visited and cared for the four surrogate mothers and mothers of cadres, workers and laborers at Lao Dong Newspaper on the occasion of the Lunar New Year period of 2023-2025 with a total amount of 290 million VND; organized gift giving to 866 children of cadres, workers and laborers of the newspaper on the occasion of the International Year of Children and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Trade Union, together with the office, organizes collective kitchens and union meals in Hanoi, at the Permanent Office and the regional office. The Executive Committee of the Trade Union maintains and sells food to the happy coffee area, serving union members and workers according to regulations. In 2023, the Trade Union will organize a call for contributions and support from departments, units and regions in the agency, support the family of a union member whose 7 relatives died in a mini apartment fire; propose to pay money from the Trade Union fund and the agency's welfare fund to promptly support the family with a total amount of VND 149,900,000. The Trade Union participated in supporting the launching program of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union to call on cadres and union members to support social activities of gratitude to care for union members and workers in difficulty with a total amount of VND 5,970,000.
In 2024, workers and laborers of Lao Dong Newspaper supported people, union members and laborers in localities affected by storm No. 3 with a total amount of 65.9 million VND. The Executive Committee of the Trade Union has launched the emulation movement "Building a cultural environment in press agencies"; Emulation "Breakthrough to lead", achieving successfully to celebrate the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; continuing the movement "Emulation in building a cultural environment in the Lao Dong Newspaper agency" according to Plan 154/KH-BTGTW dated June 10, 2022 of the Central Propaganda Department; continuing to compete to achieve achievements to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the first issue of Lao Dong Newspaper and the 25th anniversary of the launch of Lao Dong Electronic Newspaper.
The Congress set out goals, directions and tasks for the 2025-2030 term, in which the general goal is: Promoting the position, role and function of the Trade Union organization, continuing to innovate the organization, content and methods of operation to build a stronger team of workers, civil servants and trade union organizations; creating a strong change in the actions of each worker, contributing to building the Lao Dong Newspaper to develop more and more, ensuring jobs and lives for cadres, union members and workers.

In the coming time, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy suggested that there should be a breakthrough, innovating the content and methods of trade union activities. Immediately after the congress, the Executive Committee of the new grassroots trade union needs to promptly develop an action program, specify the contents set out in the Congress Resolution, associated with the profession, functions, principles, and purposes of the newspaper.
Along with that, it is necessary to continue to promote digital transformation, apply information technology to trade union activities, grasp the thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers; continue to improve the quality of trade union activities in press agencies; continue to do a good job of caring for union members and workers, expand caring activities associated with the characteristics of reporters; continue to organize emulation movements well...
The grassroots trade union needs to innovate the content and methods of operation, build a strong trade union organization, perform well the role of representing union members and workers, create a safe, dynamic and creative working environment for union members and workers.
Speaking at the congress, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - Deputy Party Secretary, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper suggested that in the new context, the Lao Dong Newspaper Trade Union should continue to maintain its role as a fulcrum for union members and workers in the newsroom, taking better care of the lives of cadres, workers and employees, especially the reporter team, and at the same time proposing a safe working regime for union members and workers, especially investigative reporters.
Along with that, the trade union needs to discover outstanding union members to develop the Party; continue to promote digital transformation in trade union activities. Trade unions need to continue to launch emulation movements directly linked to press work; contribute to maintaining internal solidarity, building a humane working environment and development.
The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Lao Dong Newspaper Trade Union for the 2025-2030 term, consisting of 9 members; elected 1 official delegate and 1 alternate delegate to attend the 18th Hanoi City Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030.
