A startup called RAW has caused a stir in public opinion when introducing RAW Ring - a smart ring integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), with the ability to detect signs of infidelity in relationships.
The product is promoted as a tool to help couples "understand each other better", but since its launch, it has caused a lot of controversy.
The RAW Ring is equipped with a microphone and a series of biological sensors, which can track the wearer's heart rate, body temperature and physical activities. AI will analyze this data to detect "abnormal" signs that may be related to adultery.
In particular, the ring is designed to distinguish between private moments and normal physical activity, in order to minimize false reports.
When one of the partners has cheated, the ring will flash pink as a warning signal. However, for this system to work properly, both people in the relationship have to wear rings. The company's official website affirms: "If any problems occur, users will be notified".
CEO Marina Anderson believes that this device could help restore the meaning of trust - something that is fading away in the context of many broken marriages. She emphasized that using the RAW Ring was completely voluntary and clear: If you were going to cheat, you would never wear that ring.
However, many people are worried that this ring will cause more harm to couples who already lack trust. The New York Post called it a tools for tracking inhumane loyalty. Some opinions say that, instead of healing relationships, the device creates a sense of surveillance and promotes suspicion.
RAW said it has anticipated the risks and allowed users to stop sharing data at any time. However, the psychological impact on couples is still a concern for many people.
The RAW Ring is expected to launch in late 2025 or early 2026, with a maximum usage period of one week between each charge. The selling price and specific details have not been announced.
