Obstacles and solutions for digital transformation
According to Mr. Le Hung Cuong, although digital transformation in Vietnam has achieved many successes, the infrastructure system for this, as well as the accompanying mechanisms and policies, still need to be improved.
Mr. Cuong said: “High-tech projects such as software parks and Silicon Valleys in localities, typically Ho Chi Minh City, still face many difficulties due to capital and policy mechanisms. Many of these projects have not achieved the expected results, largely due to the complexity of the public capital investment process and related legal regulations. Investors, especially from the private and international sectors, are still hesitant due to the lack of support from clear and flexible mechanisms.”
Regarding the solution, according to him, there needs to be a reasonable investment mechanism and model.
“One of the effective solutions we see is the public-private partnership (PPP) model. High-tech projects need to clearly define their goals and specific outputs, thereby attracting private resources and international partners,” Mr. Cuong emphasized.
According to Mr. Cuong, based on international experience, the role of State management agencies is very important in creating a favorable environment for startups and innovation; ensuring a solid digital infrastructure, clear legal policies and support mechanisms for businesses to access technology...
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Viet Quan, founder of Tanca.io, said: "We propose that the State should promote businesses to transform digitally more strongly, such as taking advantage of the State's available digital data and expanding digital interaction channels.
At the same time, there needs to be a strategy on AI (artificial intelligence), ML (machine learning), including human resource training, technology purchase and transfer, and support for small businesses to improve their competitiveness in the global environment."
Problem with business
According to Mr. Tran Viet Quan, almost all of Tanca.io's business activities take place in the digital environment.
He shared: "This process not only helps to significantly reduce costs, time and ineffective human resources, but also improves efficiency by up to 60% compared to businesses that have not yet transformed digitally."
Accompanying many large enterprises in Vietnam to build the most effective digital transformation roadmap, according to Mr. Le Hung Cuong, it is commendable that Vietnamese enterprises clearly recognize the importance of digital transformation.
In addition, large enterprises in Vietnam, especially in the fields of finance, telecommunications and manufacturing, have built a relatively solid digital infrastructure.
However, one of the biggest difficulties they face is the shortage of highly specialized human resources to manage digital transformation projects or in specific fields such as AI, data... This becomes especially urgent when technology is constantly evolving and skill requirements must also be constantly updated.
In addition, the issue of capital investment for digital transformation, reasonable allocation, creating a long-term foundation... is also a problem that some businesses encounter.
“Finally, many businesses have difficulty building a long-term strategy for digital transformation. Some businesses start with small projects without a clear connection to the overall goal, leading to unexpected results,” Mr. Cuong emphasized.
