OpenAI has just announced GPT-5. this is the latest AI model with many outstanding improvements. Apple said that ChatGPT integrated into Apple Intelligence will be upgraded to GPT-5 next month.
Using ChatGPT in Apple Intelligence is optional. When turned on, users can:
Use Siri to access ChatGPT to answer complex requests, including questions about photos and documents;
Use ChatGPT in Writing Tools to compose text or images from the description.
Combine ChatGPT with visual intelligence through Camera Control to quickly learn about the location and surrounding objects.
Currently on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and VisionOS 2, ChatGPT in Apple Intelligence is running on GPT-4o. After launching GPT-1, Apple confirmed that it will switch to this model on iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26, expected to launch next month.
The upgrade to GPT-5 is expected to help Apple Intelligence process natural language more smoothly, answer more accurately and creatively, while opening up more smarter experiences on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
This is also a step that shows Apple's readiness to step up cooperation with leading AI brands to increase competitiveness in the burgeoning era of artificial intelligence.
