AI can make us richer but also lonelier. It helps us do more but also makes us more confused about the meaning of what we are doing," Mr. Minh wrote in a "letter" to employees on VNG's 22nd birthday.
AI will create huge wealth
According to Mr. Minh, AI will shape the era with power far beyond the Internet and mobile technology. This technology can create a huge source of wealth in the next 20 years, bringing great results to pioneers in testing, research and application. But according to him, prosperity is only meaningful when people remember what they created it for.
The danger is that we forget what the real purpose of creating wealth is," he wrote. Each person will answer that question in their own way. For the founder of VNG, the answer lies in the people they love, are attached to, those around them and whether they help them live better or not.
With AI, that boundary becomes even more fragile. "When wealth becomes the sole purpose, we can earn a lot while still losing the most important things. And AI makes the gains and losses greater," Mr. Minh said.
On the one hand, this technology can amplify each person's abilities hundreds of times. On the other hand, it can also completely replace a person in conversations. "We can be richer, but also become more lonely," Mr. Minh concluded.
Technology multiplies human values
AI is not a new journey at VNG. In fact, this business started learning about AI in 2017 with Zalo's experimental projects and officially pursued the AI-First strategy from mid-2023. The latest quarterly financial report reveals that AI has deeply participated in both operational processes and business models.
Statistics show that about 30% of Zalo users currently use AI-integrated features such as converting text into voice and vice versa, translation. Digital Citizen Assistant - a chatbot that supports 24/7 lookup of administrative procedures, laws, land and personal papers - reached one million users after one year of launch.
In addition, AI also helps shorten the content creation process from a few weeks to a few hours and automate game publishing, shorten customer feedback time, from screening job applications to document processing.
But for Mr. Minh, higher productivity is just the beginning. According to his view of the relationship between humans and AI: Human × AI = Human2, technology not only helps multiply capacity, but more importantly, must help multiply human values.
Learn with AI, innovate with AI, let it take on everything machines can do well. What you need is to clearly identify what you can do, thanks to the time saved and the capabilities that AI brings to you.
You can spend a part of that time with teammates, family and users, understand and connect with them more deeply. And in the process of creating everything with AI, always ask yourself: Does this help people connect with each other more and live a better life?", Mr. Minh concluded.
