On hot sunny days, many users encounter hot phones even though they only use common tasks such as surfing social networks, watching videos or making video calls for a short time.
According to Mr. Ngoc Minh - a technician at a phone store on Cau Giay street (Hanoi), high ambient temperature combined with continuous use makes the device easily overheated, especially for models that have been used for many years or have degraded batteries.
One of the most common risks is that the battery will degrade faster than usual. When the phone operates frequently at high temperatures, the lithium-ion battery inside the device will be reduced in lifespan, leading to rapid battery drain, slow charging or overflow.
In many cases, a phone overheating can also cause the device to automatically reduce performance to protect components. Users may see the device lag, lag, reduce screen brightness or automatically turn off applications when the temperature rises too high.
More dangerously, if the battery has degraded but continues to use high intensity or is charged with poor quality accessories, the risk of short circuits and explosions may occur.
Many people have a habit of charging while playing games, watching videos or leaving their phones in the car in the sun. These are all situations that cause battery temperatures to rise rapidly and easily cause damage to internal components.
Phone companies also recommend that users should not let their phones directly exposed to sunlight for long periods, especially on the saddle, car tailgate or near the window.
When the phone shows signs such as abnormal heat even when used lightly, battery drain quickly, phone back bulging or a slight burnt smell, users should stop charging and take the device for early inspection.
To limit overheating in the summer, users should remove the back cover when the device is hot, avoid continuous use for a long time and prioritize using genuine or safety standard chargers.
In addition, turning off background applications, reducing screen brightness and limiting the use of phones outdoors in hot sun also helps the device operate more stably.
