Dak Lak 2-9 Import-Export Company Limited (Simexco DakLak, under the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee) is one of the pioneers, boldly leading the way in digital transformation and testing artificial intelligence AI in production and business.
According to the leader of Simexco DakLak, the unit has implemented digital transformation of farmer management on software, meeting the EU's anti-deforestation requirements (EUDR). Currently, there are more than 26,576 farmers complying with the standard of not causing deforestation.
In 2024, Simexco DakLak conducted a number of AI application trials in coffee production and trading activities. This was just a trial step implemented in parallel with extensive digital transformation within the company.
The highlight of Simexco DakLak's digital transformation and AI testing is to reduce packaging and pack goods directly into containers in Dak Lak. The company measures the performance of each processing shift and develops a supply channel through cooperatives to reduce intermediaries and inventory loss.
"This process has brought efficiency, saving the unit over 50 billion VND" - Simexco Daklak leader added.
In 2024, Simexco DakLak surpassed more than 1,000 enterprises and was one of 190 units honored as Vietnam National Brand.
Mr. Hoang Danh Huu, Director of EDE Farm Company Limited, commented that AI helps the coffee supply chain become more transparent and efficient, while optimizing data and inventory management, saving time, human resources, and finance while still ensuring high performance.
As evidence for this, Mr. Huu shared that thanks to AI, the company has updated and verified FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) regulations on labels and food standards. This has helped the unit save 50% of the cost of hiring international experts to review labels compared to the traditional working process.
"In early December, we exported a 20-foot container containing 18,000 packages of finished roasted coffee to the US market. This success is partly due to the experimental application of AI and we will continue to research and invest extensively in this field in the near future," Mr. Huu added.
