On the morning of September 21, Facebook continued to be reported by users as having errors in many areas. In Vietnam, some users said that the web version could not load content, only displaying the Facebook logo. Meanwhile, the application on the phone can still be used normally.
According to Downdetector - a website specializing in monitoring and recording incidents of online services, in Vietnam, the number of responses to Facebook increased sharply on the morning of September 21. The highest record time was 8:25 am, with 426 reports.
Among the issues reported by users, 69% are related to website access, 17% are related to server connection and 8% are related to login. This is consistent with the actual record when many users in Vietnam said that Facebook on computer browsers only displays logos, cannot load news feeds, while applications on phones can still be used.
90 days, 20 incidents recorded by IsDown
According to the website specializing in monitoring and recording incidents of online services IsDown, in the last 90 days, Facebook recorded 20 incidents, including 5 major incidents and 15 minor incidents, with an average processing time of about 3 hours.
The incidents are not only related to users not being able to access or log in to Facebook, but also appear at business services such as: Facebook Ads Manager and Meta Audience Network.
In which, on September 16, Facebook encountered a widespread service loss and login problems for about 33 minutes. On August 13, a connection loss on many devices lasted for about 5 hours. On July 27, Facebook recorded a service shutdown for about 37 minutes. Most recently, on September 21, IsDown continued to record a widespread Facebook connection loss, with users reporting unable to connect, log in or load pages.
In the business service group, Facebook Ads Manager recorded incidents related to advertising distribution in August, while Meta Audience Network repeatedly encountered problems with revenue reports.
Users are uncomfortable, businesses must have backup channels
For individual users, the most noticeable impact is being unable to log in, not being able to download news feeds, or not using some functions.
Mr. Ta Quang Sam (Bac Ninh) said that whenever Facebook cannot be accessed, the first thing he does is check the Internet connection and try to log in on his phone.
I often think my computer or network has a problem first. When I use my phone and can still access it, I know that Facebook on the web may be having an error," Mr. Sam said.
For online sellers, incidents can have a more direct impact. Ms. Le Tra (Bac Ninh) - owner of a fashion store on Facebook - said that most of the store's customers come from Facebook and Messenger. When the platform encounters an incident, replying to messages and processing orders may be interrupted.
If I don't receive the message or don't reply in time, it's very easy to lose the application. Therefore, I have to maintain Zalo and a phone number so that customers have another contact channel," Ms. Tra said.
This situation is particularly noteworthy as business tools are also in the group of services that have encountered problems. IsDown recorded many problems with Meta Business Suite in September, including errors in not being able to save or view drafts, post scheduling errors, and login problems.
However, data from Downdetector and IsDown mainly reflects the number of user reports and data recorded from crash tracking systems, which does not mean the actual number of affected users.
Due to different data collection and classification methods, the numbers may have certain differences. Users should note that the data is only for reference to reflect the scale, frequency and diễn biến of Facebook incidents at each time.
