According to records, at about 0:30 on September 17, when accessing Facebook on a computer, the website did not display content but a notification appeared "Account temporarily unavailable". The system said that the account is currently unusable due to an issue on the website and suggested users try again later.
In some cases, Facebook displays a notification page "This page is not displayed", along with instructions to reload the page.
Notably, the incident was recorded on the web version, while the Facebook application on the user's phone can still be accessed and used normally. This shows that the error may be related to a service department or system serving the web version, instead of individually locked user accounts.
This is not the first time Facebook has encountered an incident that affected the web version while the phone application was still working. On July 19, 2026, Facebook experienced an incident on the computer version in Vietnam and many other regions. Users at that time also received notifications that their account was temporarily unavailable, while the application on the phone could still be used.
As of 0:40 on September 17, Facebook has returned to normal operation, but there is no official information from Meta about the cause of the previous incident.
