At a time when Google continuously announced a series of new AI features at the Google I/O 2026 event, Mozilla chose a different direction, which is to give users more AI control.
Accordingly, the recently released Firefox 151 version has added AI management options on both iOS and Android. Users can use a "total switch" to turn off all generative AI features in the browser, or customize to turn on/off each individual feature.
Mozilla currently integrates some AI tools on Firefox such as page translation, voice search and many other support features, including new features that appear in this update.
The possibility of completely shutting off AI features is still quite rare in the technology industry, especially when many large companies are promoting deeper AI integration into products. Therefore, Firefox's move is considered noteworthy in the context that users are increasingly concerned about privacy and technology control capabilities.
Previously, Mozilla introduced similar AI control options to the Firefox version for computers in February.
