Some shocking stories recorded by the New York Times: Manasi Mishra (21 years old, graduated from Purdue University) once expected a 6-digit starting salary but only received one interview at a fast food chain and was rejected.
Zach Taylor - a graduate of Oregon State University in 2023, submitted nearly 6,000 technology job applications but only received 13 interviews and no invitations. He was even rejected by McDonald's due to lack of experience.
The reason is that artificial intelligence has replaced many low-level programmer positions, combined with the personnel cuts of corporations such as Amazon, Meta, Microsoft. Currently, students fall into the AI loop: using AI to submit applications in large numbers, but employers also use AI to automatically eliminate them.
