Speaking at the award ceremony, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that VinFuture 2024 is an important event, continuing to honor breakthrough research and inventions with far-reaching impacts, helping humanity overcome difficulties and reach new heights.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh awarded the VinFuture Prize 2024 to five scientists, including: Professor Yoshua Bengio (Canada), Professor Geoffrey E. Hinton (Canada), Mr. Jen-Hsun Huang (USA), Professor Yann LeCun (USA) and Professor Fei-Fei Li (USA) for their groundbreaking contributions to promoting the advancement of deep learning.
The main prize was awarded for groundbreaking contributions to advancing the advancement of deep learning, which has ushered in a new era of technological innovation that enables machines to “learn” from massive amounts of data and achieve incredible accuracy in tasks such as image recognition, natural language processing, and decision making.
In addition to the Main Prize, VinFuture 2024 also awards 3 Special Prizes to scientists researching new fields, female scientists and scientists from developing countries.
The VinFuture 2024 Special Prize for scientists from developing countries was awarded to Bangladeshi PhD Firdausi Qadri for her work "Innovation and improvement of oral cholera vaccines in developing countries", aiming to end the global cholera epidemic.
The VinFuture 2024 Special Prize for female scientists was awarded to Professor Kristi Anseth - a scientist from the US for making advances in polymer material design and methods for biomedical applications.
The VinFuture 2024 Special Prize for scientists researching new fields was awarded to Professor Zelig Eshhar (Israel), Professor Carl H. June (USA) and Professor Michel Sadelain (USA) for their work developing CAR-T cell therapy to treat cancer and other diseases.
