Artificial intelligence is gradually penetrating into every aspect of life, from office work, industrial production to education and robots.
However, according to Mustafa Suleyman, Managing Director of Artificial Intelligence at Microsoft, the biggest impact of AI in the near future will not only lie in productivity or automation, but in the role of each person's personal "partner".
In a sharing posted on social network X (formerly Twitter), Suleyman predicted that within about 5 years, everyone will have a separate AI companion.
According to him, the new generation AI assistants will not only answer questions or execute commands, but also have the ability to see what users see, hear what they hear, and understand the living context around them.
In the next 5 years, everyone will have a separate AI companion, someone who understands them intimately and personally to the point of living with them every day," Mr. Suleyman shared.
According to this CEO, AI will grasp the preferences, motivations and habits of users, thereby supporting them in making decisions and overcoming major challenges in life.
This assessment quickly attracted many mixed reactions from the online community. Some people expressed excitement about the prospect of an AI assistant always by their side, while others expressed skepticism.
Some opinions suggest that AI should not be imprisoned in technical constraints, but should be developed more openly.
Conversely, some people also believe that if it takes up to 5 years to achieve this, the development speed of AI is too slow, while others believe that "that AI friend" may need to charge the battery every day and incur periodic upgrade costs.
Before joining Microsoft, Mustafa Suleyman co-founded Inflection AI with Reid Hoffman and Karen Simonyan. This startup developed the Pi chatbot, which is a personal artificial intelligence designed to focus on emotions, empathy and dialogue.
Unlike popular chatbots such as ChatGPT or Claude that focus on information processing, Pi is built to become a patient, kind friend and provide spiritual support to users.
Pi once reached the milestone of about one million daily active users, before most of the Inflection AI team joined Microsoft in 2024.
Experience from this project shows that Suleyman is a person who pursues the philosophy of developing friendly AI, putting humans at the center.
According to Suleyman, his long-term vision is to build "superhuman intelligence", advanced AI systems strictly designed to serve human interests.
He also emphasized that restraint, adjustment and setting clear boundaries are prerequisites to ensure AI shares and respects human values in society.
