Over the past year, major tech companies have released a number of AI tools within their software.
As it becomes easier to manipulate images and videos with synthetic AI, there's been a wave of companion policies being introduced. Google is the latest company to jump on the bandwagon.
After launching tools like Magic Editor last spring and integrating AI into its video editor last month, Google Photos will begin marking up image content that has been edited with AI.
Previously, Google tagged AI-edited images with relevant metadata. Now, Google will have a clear-language notification accompanying edited photos.
In the example the company shared in its blog post, there's a section at the bottom of the image details screen titled "AI Info." This section lists the AI tool that was used to edit the image.
This new feature will be available on Google Photos starting next week.
In early October, Google Photos also rolled out “Ask Photos” - an artificial intelligence photo search tool for some users.
