A Hacker has found a secret Elon che do in Tesla car software. This mode appears to allow Tesla vehicles to operate completely on their own without any driver supervision.
The hidden feature - cleverly named Elon System - was discovered by a blogger online named @greentheonly. An anonymous hackers have been digging into the car's source code for years and discovered things like how Tesla could lock the power Seat or the existence of a center-line camera in the Model 3 before it was officially enabled.
After finding and activating Elon mode, @greentheonly took the risk of testing the system and posted some preliminary footage of the action. The hackers did not share how to install Elon mode on screen but confirmed that it was true.
Accordingly, @greentheonly found that the car did not need any attention from the driver when using Tesla's Full-Driver software (FSD). FSD is an advanced driver assistance system based on Tesla's vision that is in the testing phase but is still available to anyone willing to pay $15,000 for this option.
Tesla's self-driving system, the first-generation driver assistance system for the automaker's highway, still requires drivers to lift the steering wheel to confirm that they are paying attention during use.
Tesla owners often complain about the frequency of the system's inspection, which some call a "barreness" of the car.
Tesla's self-driving software issues are receiving more and more complaints. In addition to the existing manual confirmation feature, vehicles with a central camera will observe the driver to ensure that they are looking forward, but that is quite complicated.
But with @greentheonly's nearly 1,000-km test on the Elon Tour, he found no such problems. In the video, it appears that greentheonly is driving a first-generation Model X. It is unclear whether this model has a camera or how GreentheOnly was able to approach the car.
If the Elon che do really exists, Teslas electric vehicle owners will probably be most excited. It is very likely that this feature is being secretly developed by Tesla and will be available to their customers in the near future.
