The most prominent feature on iOS 26.5 is the RCS end-to-end encryption feature, which allows iPhone and Android users to exchange messages safely.
To use the feature, both sides in the conversation need network operator support. Network operators will deploy this feature over time.
Encrypted RCS messages will have a small lock icon, similar to iMessage.
In addition to security upgrades, iOS 26.5 also adds a new Pride Luminance wallpaper with dynamic color effects, changing according to the user's movements and actions on the screen.
The update also brings the "Suggested Places" feature on the Maps app, which allows suggesting locations based on search trends near the user area and recent search history.
At the same time, Apple began deploying ads in the Maps application to increase visibility for local businesses.
Apple said iOS 26.5 is supported on iPhone lines from iPhone 11 to iPhone 17, and is compatible with iPhone SE second generation and above.
To update to iOS 26.5, users follow the steps: Settings > General > Software Update.
