John Nitti, CEO of Global Advertising Revenue and Innovation at X, left the company after only 10 months in the position, according to a report by the Financial Times.
Mr. Nitti was once considered a potential candidate to succeed former CEO Linda Yaccarino, who resigned in July this year.
Nitti's departure follows a series of departures from many senior personnel in the executive board, reflecting the increasing unrest in X.
Previously, Finance Director Mahmoud Reza Banki left the company in October after less than a year, while xAI's Finance Director and General Advisor also left in the summer.
According to sources, internal stress is the main cause. CEOs expressed disappointment with Elon Musk's sudden strategic changes and unilateral decisions, including banning hashtag from advertising without consulting the advertising team.
This pressure is further increased as Musk poured billions of dollars into AI development, aiming to compete directly with OpenAI and DeepMind.
Although some brands have returned after Musk publicly criticized them in late 2023, and xAI has signed partnerships with large companies like Disney, many others have complained of being forced to advertise, after X sued companies like Shell and Pinterest for alleged boycott.
Before joining X, Mr. Nitti worked for nearly nine years at Verizon and another long time at American Express, where he accumulated extensive experience in advertising and revenue.
His departure once again raises questions about the ability to retain senior personnel at X, a workplace that was said to be volatile under Elon Musk.
