Meta has just announced a new feature called Incognito Chat, allowing users to chat privately with the Meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp and the Meta AI application.
The noteworthy point is that Meta affirms that even the company cannot access the content of these conversations.
According to Meta, the new feature is designed for users who want to exchange sensitive content such as personal information, health or finance when interacting with AI chatbots.
After turning on Anonyme Chat mode, all user reminders and responses created by AI will not be stored and will automatically disappear after the chat session.
Incognito Chat is built on Meta's "Private Processing" technology platform.
This technology creates a safe cloud environment for AI chatbots to process data without leaking information to Meta or any third party.
According to technical documents released by Meta, the system is built on the basis of the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), which helps user data to always be protected throughout the processing process.
Meta said the goal of this technology is to bring a level of privacy equivalent to end-to-end encryption or direct processing on the device.
The company emphasized that this is a solution to expand AI support capabilities on a large scale while still maintaining privacy for WhatsApp users.
Meta also said that Incognito Chat is different from the anonymous modes on many other AI platforms because it is designed so that even Meta cannot read the conversation content.
The anonymous chat feature is expected to be deployed in the coming months on WhatsApp and the Meta AI application.
This announcement appeared in the context of AI chatbots increasingly being deeply integrated into daily communication activities. At the same time, concerns related to AI privacy and security have also increased sharply recently.
Meta is currently paying much attention to security issues after secretly removing the end-to-end encryption option for direct messages on Instagram.
This means that the content of messages, images, videos and voice recordings on Instagram can be accessed by Meta.
In addition, AI chatbots are also facing many controversies related to psychological risks and the possibility of being exploited for illegal purposes.
In addition to Incognito Chat, Meta said they are developing a new feature called Side Chat. This feature will allow AI to support users right in ongoing conversations without interrupting the main content. Side Chat will also be protected by similar Private Processing technology.
The new move shows that Meta is stepping up its strategy of integrating AI into messaging platforms, while seeking to reassure users against growing concerns about personal data security in the AI era.
