The crew of the small missile ship Burya (of Project 22800 Karakurt) test-fired the naval Pantsir-M air defense missile/gun system against an air target in the Baltic Sea.
Experts from the missile and artillery unit on the small missile ship Burya fired the Pantsir-M surface-to-air missile/gun system at an aerial target. The target missile used in the test was launched from the Boikiy frigate of the Baltic Fleet" - the fleet's statement on March 3 stated.
During the test firing, the target missile was hit by 2 Pantsir-M missiles. This result was confirmed through live recording data.
The Pantsir-M missile/surface-to-air missile system was launched within the framework of the state-level testing program for the small Burya missile ship.
Pantsir-M is the naval version of Russia's Pantsir air defense missile/gun system; the ground-based version is called Pantsir-S.
This system is developed by the Department of Instrument Design and Manufacturing, a unit under the High Precision Systems Complex of state-owned technology corporation Rostec.
Russia promotes this as the only warship-based air defense system in the world with a combat module operated by one person, integrating air defense guns, air defense missiles and control systems in a unified complex.
