According to reports from the supply chain and industry insiders, iPhone 18 and iPhone 19 are being planned for development by Apple with significant progress, promising to reshape the future of smartphones.
Expected to launch in 2026, the iPhone 18 is said to be the first Apple device to switch to Face ID technology below the screen. Dynamic Island - a design introduced on recent iPhone lines - will be removed and replaced with a compact holes, to optimize display area. This is considered a stepping stone for stronger changes in the next generation.
By 2027, the iPhone 19 is likely to mark a leap forward in design when it has a completely flawless display. The front camera and Face ID system will be hidden completely under the screen, creating a device with a seamless front face.
This is something that iPhone users have long expected, especially in the context of Apple pioneering with the "rabbit" design on the iPhone X in 2017, leading to a lo design trend for the entire smartphone industry.
2027 also coincides with the 20th anniversary of the launch of the first iPhone. According to Bloomberg, Apple is developing a completely new iPhone Pro model, possibly called the iPhone 20 or another special name such as the iPhone Ultra.
This model is expected to realize Steve Jobs' original vision: a phone with no border, no buttons, and no ports.
Apple is also working to integrate a hidden camera under the screen and create a seamless glass surface that covers the entire device.
However, this design may reduce durability by removing the metal frame that has provided stability for recent generations of iPhones.
Apple is said to be developing a new, more durable pair of glasses to support the full-glass design. The iPhone Pro model celebrating 20 years is likely to be announced in the fall of 2027, in line with the annual iPhone launch cycle.
With these changes, Apple is showing its determination to enter a completely new iPhone design era after many years of maintaining the familiar style.
