OpenAI has just introduced a new feature for ChatGPT, allowing users to branch conversations into multiple parallel streams.
This feature has been officially available since September 5 and is now available to all ChatGPT accounts logged in on the web version.
Accordingly, instead of having to press or open a completely new chat window, users can create a " branch" from any point in the conversation, keeping the original content but at the same time testing many different directions.
For example, a marketing group can use the same initial reminder but branch it to experiment with a solemn, humorous, or youthful tone in advertising copies.
A software engineer shared on X that chia se dialogue allows chasing many different scenarios without disrupting the original context, which was previously very difficult for users to do.
OpenAI also affirmed: According to popular requirements, you can now branch conversations in ChatGPT to easily explore new directions without losing the original theme.
The technology community compares this feature to Git, a software version management system that allows developers to create separate source code branches for testing without affecting the source code.
Experts say that this improvement will reduce the burden on users, because research in 2024 has shown that a linear dialogue interface causes users to constantly compare and copy, reducing the effectiveness in complex situations such as brain damage or large project analysis.
Along with the new feature, OpenAI also announced that it is developing an AI- integrated job platform to compete with LinkedIn. According to Fidji Simo, CEO of Application at OpenAI, this platform will connect workers and businesses in a smarter way, based on the suitability between capacity and actual needs.
The project has cooperation with large corporations such as Walmart, John Deere, Accenture and Boston Consulting Group.
The launch of the branch feature shows that OpenAI is continuing to improve ChatGPT towards a flexible experience, supporting users better in both work and daily life.
