Google has just announced a new step forward in integrating artificial intelligence into Search, as AI Mode can now perform many user-replace tasks, including booking dinner, buying tickets and even supporting planning with friends.
This AI mode has now been expanded by Google to 180 countries and territories. A special feature in this update is the appearance of Agent, a Representative feature that acts as a virtual assistant, can find restaurants, filter by date, time, location and favorite cuisine, then directly book for users.
This technology is developed based on Project Mariner, allowing AI to browse the web and access real-time to make suggestions close to needs.
Not stopping at booking, Google said that AI mode will soon expand to more realistic tasks such as booking appointments, booking tickets to movies, events or local services. This makes Google Search a tool that not only looks up information but can also act as a human version on behalf of users.
During the testing phase in the US, through the Google AI Ultra package in Labs, AI mode also added the feature of personalizing search results.
For the culinary segment, AI will remember conversations, locations you have searched for or visited on Google Maps to make more appropriate suggestions. Users can also customize or turn off personalization in account settings.
Notably, Google added a Sharing button right in the AI mode interface, helping users send suggestions, results or feedback to friends and family.
This feature expands collaboration, from planning out to eat, go out to organizing group events conveniently.
With these upgrades, Google is gradually turning AI from a simple search engine to a comprehensive digital assistant, competing directly with other AI ecosystems and virtual assistants in the market.
