OpenAI has just introduced a major update to ChatGPT, unifying voice and text in a single interface, expanding the more natural and seamless interactive experience.
With the new design, users can start voice or text chats immediately, while the system responds with audio, text or images depending on the situation.
The most notable point is that ChatGPT Voice now has the ability to display maps in real time, a feature that had never appeared before in the voice-only version.
Mapping, images and visual data are presented right next to audio feedback, making the multimedia conversation more fluid and suitable for many usage situations, from finding a way, searching for information to handling work.
OpenAI also added a roll inside the chat window. Thanks to that, all voice exchanges will be displayed in text, allowing users to review content, track the dialogue flow or switch between listening and reading mode when necessary.
This is an important improvement for those who often perform complex tasks by voice but still want to grasp information in text.
In addition, a unified design helps eliminate the need to choose between modes. Users just need to open the chat window and start chatting as they want, the system will automatically adjust the appropriate response form.
For those who prefer a voice-only interface as before, OpenAI will maintain the option of switching in the settings, but unified mode will be the default in the future.
The update is rolling out gradually on both the web and mobile apps. Users can access ChatGPT Voice directly in the main chat interface, taking advantage of the ability to continuously interact without interruption between data entry forms.
This is considered an important step forward in turning ChatGPT into a more complete multimedia assistant, unifying the way humans communicate with AI.
