OpenAI accelerates recruitment, aiming for 8,000 personnel by 2026

In the context of many technology companies continuously cutting personnel in recent years, OpenAI is going in the opposite direction.

According to new reports, this artificial intelligence "giant" is planning to expand its workforce to about 8,000 employees by the end of 2026, nearly double the current scale of about 4,500 people.

The new recruitment wave will spread across many departments, including product development, engineering, research and sales. Notably, OpenAI will also recruit more "experts" in the field of "technical ambassadors" - personnel tasked with supporting businesses to exploit the company's AI tools more effectively.

According to observers, this move shows that OpenAI is increasing its competitiveness with Anthropic - the company behind chatbot Claude. Data from AI Index released by fintech startup Ramp shows that businesses currently tend to choose Anthropic about 70% higher than OpenAI when buying AI services for the first time.

From a long-term perspective, the strategy of large-scale personnel expansion shows that OpenAI is betting heavily on the next growth stage of the AI market, where competition is not only in technology but also in practical deployment and corporate customer acquisition capabilities.

Promoting recruitment and expanding cooperation with both the public and private sectors is considered a step to consolidate positions against rising competitors, especially when the market share of AI services shows signs of shifting.

However, rapid expansion also poses challenges in management, cost and operational efficiency, in the context that the AI market is still volatile and not completely stable.
