Oppo has confirmed that the Find N5 will launch globally alongside its Chinese launch in just two weeks. This will be the first time the company has released one of its foldable phones in multiple markets simultaneously. Oppo is also expected to launch the new product under the OnePlus Open 2 sub-brand in the US.
The foldable phone is set to be incredibly thin, measuring just under 4mm when unfolded. Oppo has compared it to Apple products several times, noting that the Find N5 is thinner than the iPad Pro M4 (launched in 2024), which is just 5.1mm thick, and much thinner than the iPhone. In fact, it's only slightly thicker than a USB-C port, which is impressive.
Despite being incredibly thin, the upcoming foldable phone is set to pack a 5,900mAh battery – much larger than the 4,800mAh found in both the Find N3 and the original OnePlus Open. Plus, it solves a major problem from the current generation: No wireless charging. The OnePlus Open 2 has been confirmed to support 50W fast wireless charging.
Inside, the device is expected to run on the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, ensuring top-notch speed and power. The camera setup is also rumored to get a major upgrade by adding a feature that other flagships don't have: telephoto macro shooting.
The Oppo Find N5 is expected to feature a triple 50MP rear camera, while the front camera will likely retain 32MP and 20MP sensors. Additionally, the Find N5 will have both IPX8 and IPX9 ratings, making it the first foldable phone that can handle high-pressure, high-temperature water jets.
With the new information from Oppo, the global foldable smartphone market is heating up every day, especially when Huawei is preparing to launch the world's first tri-fold phone this month.
