Perplexity opens free AI Comet browser

Quang Minh |

Perplexity has just announced that the AI Comet browser is now free for all users in the world.

Previously, this browser was exclusively for the Perplexity Max package rental group with a fee of 200 USD/month.

According to the company, Comet has become one of the most sought-after browsers on the internet with millions of waiting subscribers. Now, the waiting list has been removed, everyone can download it. Perplexity emphasizes that this free is not a time-limited promotion that Comet will always offer for free.

Comet is designed with Perplexity AI as the default search engine. The difference is that each search result comes with a chatbot in the sideline, allowing users to ask questions, summarize documents, and even perform some tasks such as sending emails or finding directions.

This browser synthesizes data from the web and returns it as an AI-generated answer, so users still need to verify with important information.

This is the latest step in Perplexity's development strategy. The company is also currently developing a mobile version and a deeper integrated AI assistant. With this move, Comet officially joined the AI- integrated browser race.
