When enabled, this mode allows the AI assistant to search and analyze content on multiple tabs open at the same time. In an example shared by CEO Satya Nadella on the X platform, Copilot Mode reviewed a series of research papers by the company's scientists and assessed whether they had anything in common.
Copilot Mode also supports natural voice navigation and displays a flexible subtable, allowing users to quickly access the AI assistant on any website.
Microsoft said it is developing more advanced features. For example, if users allow access to web browsing history and login information, the upcoming Copilot Mode can automatically perform actions such as booking a table or suggesting information related to the user's queries.
This feature is currently only open for limited testing on Windows or Mac Edge browsers. Users can turn off Copilot Mode at any time in the settings.
In the context of technology companies such as Perplexity, OpenAI, Opera or The Browser Company competing to integrate AI into the browser, Microsoft still needs more time to turn Copilot into a popular choice in this new technology race.
