Robot Phone is also the first product marking the cooperation between Honor and the world's leading film equipment manufacturer ARRI in the field of image. The device integrates ARRI's color processing technology and filming process, aiming to bring professional filming and post-production experiences to smartphones.
It's time for the mobile industry to overcome the limits of flat and static screens. Content creators should also not trade between mobility and professional-level vibration resistance," Mr. James Li, CEO of Honor, shared with international media.
First smartphone integrates 4DoF mechanical gimbal
The biggest difference of Robot Phone lies in Titanium Agile Gimbal, a 4DoF mechanical gimbal system integrated directly into the body.
To bring the entire gimbal system into a compact device, the Chinese company had to go through 60 production stages, using more than 100 precision components and protected by more than 100 patents. Thanks to that, compared to conventional gimbal systems, the overall size is reduced by 65% while structural durability is increased by 200%.
This system uses Titanium Gimbal Motor weighing only 2.6g, allowing the camera cluster to rotate at speeds up to 360 degrees per second. At the same time, the Super Steel Flip Motor system with optimal torque density, delivers a large powertrain in a compact size, helping the camera respond quickly, move accurately and maintain a stable frame during recording.
Bring professional filming experience to smartphones
With the cooperation with ARRI, Robot Phone integrates some ARRI image processing technologies and techniques commonly used in film production, helping users access color processing and post-production tools right on their smartphones.
Robot Phone is equipped with Honor H1 image processor chip, combined with other technologies to create an optimal image processing process from filming to post-production, from helping to retain more image information in both bright and dark areas, providing a wider color range, to providing pre-set cinematic color styles.
Many advanced technologies on this smartphone have also been demonstrated by the manufacturer within the framework of the Cannes Film Festival and the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, where the device performs subject-tracking and vibration-resistant scenes in real conditions.
AI proactively controls cameras
Robot Phone is equipped with the ability to control movement with AI, helping the device to operate on its own like a personal "camera empire". Instead of just recording in the traditional way, the camera can automatically adjust the angle of filming and support many complex movements, making vlog recording and content creation simpler without adding a separate gimbal.
Robot Phone also supports gesture control to open the camera cluster and record and take photos without touching the device. Besides filming, Yoyo Auto Execution mode allows AI on MagicOS to also understand the user's intentions and automatically perform many complex tasks including many steps on supported applications and settings.
